The Lee Generals boys basketball teams made it a clean sweep of Ramsey with the 9th grade, JV, and varsity all winning Saturday night. The three wins keep the entire boys basketball program undefeated for the season.
In the main event the Generals needed a free throw from Henry Ruggs III with three seconds remaining to secure a 65 – 64 victory. For Ruggs III Saturday was a day that most people only dream about. Representing the team of Alabama in the AL – MS All-star game, Ruggs III took the opening kickoff 91 yards untouched to set the tone for the Alabama victory. Then mere hours later hit the winning free throw in his basketball game. Not a back days effort for one of Lee’s finest. Quinterrius Rivers led the Generals wit 15 points followed by Demond Robinson with 11, and Kurtis Irvin with 10.
The JV boys played their closest game of the year winning by four. As with the varsity they opened a comfortable lead only to see it evaporate toward the end. The freshmen boys maintained their dominance with a sound whipping of the Ramsey youngsters.
The Generals will pick up action on Friday when the Sidney Lanier Poets come calling. It should be exciting, don’t miss the action.
