Multiple Teams · Lee Travels to the Preferred City and Returns With Three Wins

The Lee basketball teams took a trip up north on I65 to the self described preferred city of Prattville, AL and returned with a three game sweep.  The JV remained undefeated for the season and both the Generals and Lady Generals moved to 4 and 0 in area play.

The JV jumped out quick on the Lions and never looked back.  They flirted with a thirty point lead throughout the second half before putting away Prattville by twenty plus points.

As the Lady Generals game unfolded it was apparent that it would be an early evening as the officials allowed both teams to run over and through each other.  All is fair as long as it goes both ways and it did.  The Lady Generals took a fourteen point lead after the first quarter and steadily built it to a 30 point win.  They were led by “Ms. Double D” with 17 points and 10 rebounds, her third double-double in a row.  Zippy Broughton followed up her 43 point performance with a hard earned 17 and Jada Pickett through in 15 for the Lady Generals.  This is also the third game in a row that they have reduced their turnovers significantly and increased their steals, 14 takeaways for the night.  The Lady Generals will look to improve their area record to 5 and 0 when they face Jeff Davis Friday night.

Similar to the Lady Generals the Generals followed an exceptionally good night of shooting with one of their worst of the year.  Jon’Datric Butler led the Generals with 14 followed by Henry Ruggs III and Demond Robinson with 11 each.  To add to the sluggish performance the Generals lost their composure midway through the third quarter and had dug themselves an eight point deficit.  By the end of the quarter they had regrouped and cut the lead to four.  Prattville would not go away and it took a Ruggs III steal and dunk with twelve seconds left for the Generals to head back south with a 53 – 51 win.  As season move along it is wins like this that prove a team.  The Generals will regroup and be ready to face Jeff Davis on Friday night.

Preferred or not, today is a great day to be a General.
